THE lessons kept coming for Doveton Eagles with Highett this week’s tutor in the finer points of a 21-point victory.
The Eagles ran out of puff in the last term as the Bulldogs latched onto four goals in the final term to snatch the back-and-forth match.
Doveton Eagles will rue their kicking with one-goal-five in the final term costing the side a chance at its second victory in the middle SFL division.
Peter Dye snagged five goals in a good afternoon up forward while Nathan Wilson, Travis Graeske and Enayte Samadi all earned honours for their performances.

South Yarra outclassed Endeavour Hills to register a 62-point loss. The Falcons hung in the clash until part way through the third term when the Lions roared into action.
It resulted in a nine goal-to-two last quarter belting and blew a close clash out of the water.
Shane Peake kicked four goals to make his season tally reach 19 to find himself the fourth highest goal kicker in the division.
Hallam’s Friday night experiment didn’t reap results as Lyndale took a 20-point win away from Hallam reserve. Hallam kicked away to a four-goal lead through the first term – off the boot of Raymond Sibly (four goals) and Matt Neve (two) – and held onto a 22-point lead approaching the final change. The last quarter had all power go to the Pumas as Lyndale fought back to take the win with six goals to no score. Chris Molanar, Matt Robertson and Bryce Never had strong showings for the Hawks.
VAFA DIVISION 3
By the skin of their teeth, the X-Men claimed a hard-fought, two-point win against Eley Park Sharks. The Sharks had the lead entering the final term, but St Francis Xavier turned on the scramjets to waywardly kick its way in front in the dying minutes. Dwayne Scott and Dimi Dimakopoulos kicked a brace each while the hard yards were fought by Brendan O’Hara, Dom Carson and Sam Burns.
