Mustang theft charges laid

By CASEY NEILL

A CRANBOURNE woman will face court over a Narre Warren North Mustang theft.
Casey CIU detectives on Tuesday morning arrested the 20-year-old and charged her with one count of theft.
They allege she stole the distinctive car, worth more than $70,000, from a locked garage behind a Jacques Road home sometime between Friday 2 May and Monday 5 May.
Police recovered the Ford GT Mustang convertible at a Dandenong address on Thursday 8 May, thanks to information from the public and investigations conducted Wednesday night.
Retiree John Archibald was “over the moon” to be reunited with his car, which was returned to him with a cracked windscreen and panel damage.
“Since I could walk, I’ve always wanted to have a Mustang,” he said.
“I can imagine why someone else wanted to get their backside in it and have a flutter in it.”
The woman was bailed to appear at Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on 24 September. The investigation continues.
