Armed siege: Man charged

A CRANBOURNE man has been charged after he allegedly locked himself in a house while armed with two knives on the weekend.
Police said the man caused substantial damage to a house in Campbell Parade, Cranbourne, at 9pm on Saturday night while two people who were known to him were still inside.
Police were called to the house, where the 24-year-old man allegedly made threats to any police who would attend the house, as well as to his own welfare.
The Critical Incident Response Team attended and contained the area.
One of the occupants of the house managed to get out, while the other remained in the house.
Police made contact with the man and he eventually surrendered peacefully.
He was charged in relation breaching intervention order conditions and offences in relation to making threats.
