Finance tips for free

By LACHLAN MOORHEAD

THE Casey community and beyond will have the opportunity, starting this month, to put their financial concerns behind them.
Through a series of free financial seminars organised by the Rotary Club of Endeavour Hills, residents will be best prepared to handle the financial problems that plague us all.
Beginning on Thursday 15 May and continuing through to July, the four different classes will include Financial Bootcamp, Investing 101, Reducing Your Mortgage and Retirement Roadmap.
DHS Financial information service officer Regan Welburn will be running the seminars, where food and door prizes will be provided, and he said he was looking forward to bringing his financial tips to a new audience who may otherwise not know where they can turn to for advice.
“It’s a financial education service free for everyone. Jean (Endeavour Hills Rotary) approached me to sort of run it under the Rotary banner, to help the public prepare their finances,” he said.
“I’m looking forward to branching out to a different audience that may not come to my normal seminars.”
Endeavour Hills Rotarian Jean Harrison said she had encouraged Regan to bring his seminars to her local community after recognising there was a definite need in the area for accessible finance information.
“I think there’s a lot of people who need help in those areas but often it’s too costly to pay for a financial advisor,” she said.
“But people still want advice and they want good ideas and this is a great opportunity to get these things in a way where people won’t be restricted by costs.”
The financial seminars will be held at the Dandenong Club – 1579 Heatherton Road, Dandenong North, and for more information contact Jean on 0418 135 644.
