WHAT’S better than enjoying a cuppa and tasty treats at a fun day out with friends? Doing it all for a good cause.
That’s exactly what Balla Balla Community Centre is offering when it hosts its annual Biggest Morning Tea on Tuesday 20 May to raise money for the Cancer Council.
Staff and volunteers are busy organising the event which will include morning tea, a guest speaker, raffles and a ‘best teacup’ competition, with all money raised to go to the Cancer Council’s prevention, research and support programs.
Jo Hall, who is helping to organise the fundraiser, urged the community to come along and enjoy a fun day out.
“So many people have been touched by cancer, either personally or someone they know,” she said.
“Participating in Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea at Balla Balla will help to raise funds for the Cancer Council so they can continue their valuable research, prevention and support programs.
“It will be a really great day out and we anticipate more than 100 people will support this worthy event.
“The large hall will be buzzing with atmosphere.”
Ms Hall said there would be something for everyone to enjoy.
“A big highlight will be the morning tea – a plate of irresistible savoury and sweet treats,” she said.
“On the day there will be lots of fun happenings, including a raffle and we are asking those attending to bring along their most interesting tea cup.
“The best ones will win a prize.”
“Guest speaker Kate Welk is a local resident.
“She is a professional and personal development coach, facilitator and public speaker.
“Kate will share how incredibly positive and powerful the cancer experience has been and what this journey has taught her and her family.”
The event will run from 10am to noon and costs $10 per person, which includes morning tea.
