A HAMPTON Park man and child narrowly escaped injury after an air rifle was purported discharged in their direction last week.
Police said the man was standing outside a house in Wesley Drive, Narre Warren, with a three-year-old, when he felt something fly pass his head and heard it impact the garage at about 2pm on Sunday 20 April.
Police attended and found an air rifle in a neighbouring property, which was believed to have been accidentally discharged.
The house had a large group of people there so they were unable to determine who fired the air rifle, which they believe was loaded with chicken feed.
Police said they have since determined who it was and were in the process of tracking down the man who was not licenced to use the firearm.
Detective Senior Constable Andrew Rodwell said it was a case of wrong place, wrong time and it was lucky no one was injured.
Not chicken feed at that speed
