THE vision for the Lynbrook Community Centre was officially unveiled at a special meeting last night.
The City of Casey held a community meeting at the Lynbrook Family and Children’s Centre where the design of the new $4.5 million centre was launched.
The design incorporated feedback from the community about what they wanted and includes different sized meeting spaces, performance facilities including projectors, dressing rooms and seating, foyer, exhibition space, storage and a commercial kitchen.
Construction of the centre is expected to start later this month and be finished by December.
Casey mayor Geoff Ablett said he was thrilled that the community’s suggestions had been incorporated into the final design.
“The Lynbrook Community Centre is being developed with the community, for the community,” he said.
“The design incorporates residents’ suggestions, including meeting spaces of varying sizes, performance facilities such as projectors, dressing rooms and seating, foyer and exhibition space, storage and a commercial kitchen.
“With construction expecting to commence in mid-2014, council is very excited about the various potential community events and activities which can be held in the centre into the future.”
The council will now establish a community reference group for the project. Those selected will work with the council on a range of matters associated with developing the operational requirements of the community centre.
