Down the garden path

THERE’s still time to apply for grants of up to $2000 to help improve Casey’s environment.
Applications for round one of City of Casey’s Environmental Sustainability Grants program close at 5pm on Friday 9 May.
Schools, community groups and organisations can apply for grants for projects including the restoration of a frog pond, habitat revegetation using indigenous plants, the development of environmental educational material and interpretative community arts.
Casey mayor Geoff Ablett said the grant program was a highlight of the Casey Sustainability Plan, which focused on leading Casey down the path to a more sustainable future.
“The Environmental Sustainability Grants allow Casey businesses, schools, kindergartens, childcare centres, universities and community groups to propose projects which can benefit the municipality’s natural, built or cultural environment,” he said.
“I encourage everyone to apply as there are grants of up to $2000 and, more importantly, all your ideas can make our city more environmentally friendly.”
Applicants have been asked to read the assessment criteria, eligibility and conditions of the grants, which are available through the online application form, before applying for the grants.
Applications must be made online by Friday 9 May at www.casey.vic.gov.au/environmentalgrants.
