PARAMEDICS had to retreat from attending to a heavily intoxicated man last week after they spotted what appeared to be a firearm tucked into his pants.
A resident living in Victoria Road, Narre Warren, called emergency services after a drunk and incoherent man knocked on her door and asked to use her phone.
Paramedics showed up to attend to the man out the front of the house, but had to leave when they observes what looked like a firearm tucked into his pants.
Police were called to the scene, but the man had left in a taxi before they arrived.
Police set up a road block where the man in the taxi was peacefully intercepted. He was found in alleged possession of a replica, semi-automatic pistol.
Police charged the 36-year-old man from Keysborough with a number of firearm offences.
He was remanded in custody to appear at the Dandenong Magistrates Court at a later date.
