Little athletes step up

A HOST of local athletics stars shone bright at Little Athletics Victoria’s State Championships which was held recently at Lakeside Stadium in Albert Park.
More than 50 Casey Little Athletics stars qualified through region events to be able to compete at state level.
They all gave it their best shot, with many achieving personal best times, distances and heights.
In all, 10 athletes won 14 state medals between them.
Casey Little Athletics – just one of 104 Little Athletics Victoria centres across the state – won eight gold, four silver and two bronze medals in a stunning result for the club.

Nikola Mandic (Under 11 boys) 1500m walk in a Victorian-best time
Bec Henderson (Under 13 girls) 1500m walk

SILVER
Josie Lawton (Under 9 girls) 400m
Hayley Woolfe (Under 10 girls) 1100m walk
Aiden Saluni-Kettle (Under 13 boys) 80m hurdles
Karla Bulte (Under-14 girls) 1500m walk

BRONZE
Amber Clarke (Under 9 girls) 800m
Shimona Albuquerque (Under 14 girls) 800m
