Honour for volunteers

RESIDENTS of Casey are being encouraged to recognise those in the community who like to lend a helping hand.
Nominations for this year’s 2014 City of Casey Volunteer Awards are now open, with five categories to choose from including Individual Volunteer, Young Volunteer, Volunteering Pair, Volunteer Group and Volunteering Organisation.
Casey Mayor Geoff Ablett said the annual awards were a small way to show appreciation for all the volunteers who made “our city a great place to live”.
“Whether you know it or not, there is probably a volunteer whose work has improved one or many of your experiences in Casey – and if you take a moment to reflect, you will soon find they really are everywhere,” he said.
“In Casey, we are lucky to have volunteers involved in local charities, sporting clubs, multicultural and environmental groups, emergency response efforts, health and welfare, religious and faith groups and arts and culture.
“In fact, I would be very surprised if your life has not been positively impacted at some level by a volunteer.”
Visit www.casey.vic.gov.au/volunteers for the nomination form or to complete a nomination online.
Nominations close at 5pm on Friday 28 March.
For more information, contact the City of Casey Customer Service on 9705 5200.
