KIDS from Casey are being encouraged to get involved with upcoming National Youth Week.
The week runs from Friday 4 April to Sunday 13 April, and the City of Casey is organising a range of events for children to celebrate the occasion.
National Youth Week is a joint initiative organised by all levels of government and provides young people with an opportunity to express their views and act on issues that affect their lives.
“Young people make a significant contribution to our community, and National Youth Week is a great way to acknowledge this,” Casey mayor Geoff Ablett said.
“More importantly, all activities and events are fully supervised, drug, alcohol and smoke free.”
National Youth Week will also play host to Casey council’s annual Rock ’n’ Skate Festival on Saturday 12 April, held at both The Shed Indoor Skate Park and The Factory Rehearsal Centre for the Arts.
This event will raise the awareness of issues affecting young people, including depression and anxiety, while promoting this year’s theme for National Youth Week – ‘Our Voice. Our Impact’.
The festival will also include a free scooter, BMX and skate competition organised by YMCA South Eastern Skate Park Series.
Meanwhile, the festival’s major sponsor 7-Eleven will supply Slurpee voucher giveaways and great prizes for participants.
