Destined to be well

By BRIDGET COOK

CASEY youths have been urged to pull on their runners, grab their passports and make their way to Destination Wellbeing.
The City of Casey is hosting the free event at Casey Fields on Wednesday 9 April which aims to raise awareness about the challenges facing young people.
Destination Wellbeing will bring together activities and stalls from a variety of well-known local organisations which are keen for participants to have fun while gaining new ideas, resources and celebrating National Youth Week.
Some of the stalls will include the council’s Youth Services team and the 360 bus, Headspace, South East Alcohol and Drug Service, Disability Sport and Recreation’s WheelTalk School Awareness Program, Cricket Victoria and the Melbourne Stars.
City of Casey Mayor Geoff Ablett said he was ecstatic to host the event and he couldn’t wait to participate in the fun activities on the day.
“Approximately 60,000 young residents, aged 10 to 25 years, call the City of Casey home and this number is set to skyrocket to more than 70,000 by 2020,” he said.
“Council is committed to supporting young people and providing opportunities each and every day to enhance the physical, social and emotional development of young people and this event is one fun way to raise awareness for something that is so close to my heart.
“This innovative event will be unlike anything held in our municipality; I encourage all young people in Casey to take some time out of their school holidays to visit Destination Wellbeing on 9 April.
“You’ll have a lot of fun while learning about the types of support you can tap into to aid your positive development.”
After the event, young participants can enjoy a free barbecue, refreshments and fun in the photo booth.
The event will run from 11am to 1pm at Casey Fields Athletics Track, Berwick-Cranbourne Road, Cranbourne East.
