A good night’s sleep pays off

IN very warm conditions, ten Casey netball teams competed in the Mountain District Tournament at the Knox Regional Netball Centre.
The 17 Spirit side enjoyed a sleep in, beginning their day on the court at 10.40am and it worked well for the Casey girls who continued their unbeaten form, accounting for their opponents in convincing fashion, the girls let their netball do the talking defeating Mountain District by five goals.
It was also a positive day for the 13 Purple team, winning seven of their matches and finishing fourth. The girls just kept improving as the day went on, making for a very happy coach.
The 15 Angels had a fantastic day only dropping one game and going on to contest the grand final against Banyule. In a high scoring match, the Angels lost 17-14. Georgia Elkins joined the Angels in the mid-court, giving her best all day.
The depleted 15s Squad endured some changes to their side due to injuries and other commitments. Kiarah Rochford and Caitlin Egan joined the 15 Open side and stepped up to the tough competition. The team had moments of brilliance, combining well against the tough opposition but struggled to maintain their consistency in the heat. As the day progressed fatigue crept in and the team finished fifth on a very close ladder.
The 11 Reserve side finished the day with a mix of results but plenty of smiles.
The 13 Open side competed well, going out in the semi final, and it was a tough day for the 13 Lime side only winning two matches, however they continue to work together to improve their game.
The 15 Lightning side tried hard all day with a positive spirit, demonstrating wins are not far away, while the 17 Pride side finished second at the end of their fixtured matches, working well as a group to earn their place – going out to Dandenong in the semi final.
