OAKWOOD Riding School has dug deep and lent a helping hand to farmers from the fire ravaged Kilmore area by sending hay their way last week.
The Clyde North riding school arranged to send 48 round bales of hay to help those farmers affected by the fires across the region.
Jill Shannon, who is on the committee of management, said it was the school’s way of helping those who needed it most.
“Oakwood had a good hay season this year and felt the farmers could better use some of the stock rather than storing and selling it,” she said.
“The stories of what some of the farmers are going through touched our hearts.
“So many have lost stock and feed.
“The way we see it, one day we might need someone to help us and hope others would do the same.”
The Victorian Farmers Federation arranged for truck driver Paul Geyer, who is also donating his time, to pick up the bales and deliver them to the Kilmore area.
