POLICE charged a man for carrying a firearm and drug offences during a sniffer dog operation at a Berwick nightclub last week.
Members of the Safe Suburbs taskforce conducted a passive alert detection (PAD) dog operation on Saturday 22 February at Dance Nightclub at Zagame’s Berwick Hotel from 11pm.
Police arrested five people, with one of them since being charged.
A 23-year-old man from Berwick was charged with trafficking drugs of dependence and firearms offences.
The other four people were issued with either drug cautions or are expected to be charged on summons.
Senior Sergeant Phillip Hulley said it was a good result for police.
“This is a warning to the public that these operations can take place at local nightclubs,” he said.
“If you are considering this type of behaviour, then you need to change your ways.
“Those who were issued drug cautions have also been offered counselling and services to try and break that cycle.”
