Take care in killer heat

With temperatures set to remain over 30 degrees for the rest of the week, I urge everyone to remain vigilant and ensure no child is left unattended in a car.
It can take as little as 10 minutes on a 29 degree day for the interior of a car to reach 44 degrees and within 20 minutes it can reach 60 degrees.
During the recent heatwave in which temperatures exceeded 41 degrees on four consecutive days, a total of 53 children were rescued after being left unattended in a car.
We were very lucky that none of these life threatening situations ended tragically.
If you have to leave your car, even for just a minute, always take your children with you.
Please stay safe, stay cool and lookout for your family and friends as we are again hit by an extended bout of hot weather.
Judith Graley MP,
Narre Warren South MP.
