Day one… a hot breakfast

By BRIDGET COOK

CRANBOURNE Secondary College gave its newest students a warm welcoming last week.
On the year-seven’s first day on Wednesday 29 January, the school held a welcome breakfast for students and parents where they served up a hot breakfast for all to enjoy together.
The school’s Proactive and Preventative Program Manager Jan McAleese said they had a great turnout, for what was always an enjoyable start to the school year.
“It’s a great opportunity for parents to meet the staff and give students a chance to settle in,” she said.
Ms McAleese, who has been welcoming new students to the school since it opened, said it was always an exciting time.
“The year-seven student start out looking so bewildered and shy, but they soon find a friend and come out of their shell,” she said.
“You can tell they are wondering what it is all going to be like and have all these expectations.
“Secondary school is normalised pretty quickly though for them and you don’t see too many lost faces after day one.”
