CRANBOURNE students are lending a helping help to the victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines by putting in a benefit concert this week.
Cranbourne Secondary College will be hosting the Typhoon Haiyan Benefit Concert on Thursday night, with the school’s performing arts students taking to the stage with a number of acts.
Music teacher Lynn Liu said there would be vocal performances from music students, energetic dance performances, a raffle which includes a prize of a new guitar donated by Cranbourne Music and silent auction.
Ms Liu urged to Casey community to come along and support the concert.
“Proceeds will go towards the Australian Red Cross Typhoon Haiyan Appeal and will help provide emergency relief, support water and sanitation, shelter and health initiatives in affected areas, send specialist aid workers to assist in initial assessments and support Red Cross’ longer term programs,” she said.
“Cranbourne Secondary College has over 60 different cultures within the school community of whom embrace the performing arts.
“A number of these students and staff members are part of the Filipino community and some have been affected.
“We believe in creating a harmonious environment where students of all backgrounds feel encouraged to help others regardless of their cultural background.”
The concert will be held on Thursday 28 November at 7pm at the Cranbourne Community Theatre, Brunt Street.
Tickets, which cost $5, are available at the door.
