Foreshore facelift

By BRIDGET COOK

The renovated Tooradin Foreshore was officially opened last week, paving the way for safer boat launching and parking.
Hastings MP Neale Burgess officially opened the $360,000 Tooradin foreshore, access road and car park upgrade on Wednesday 25 September.
The project involved the design, planning and construction of a sealed access road and formed car park area.
Mr Burgess said the improvements would provide a number of community benefits including more reliable and safer access to Western Port, marked car parking area to ensure better parking and traffic flow, improved community safety with all-weather access to the foreshore and boating facilities and increased parking.
Mr Burgess said he was pleased to officiate at the delivery of an election commitment.
“The new all-weather works will provide safer access to the boat launching area and controlled car parking, allowing more vehicles to park more safely,” he said.
“This is another great example of the community benefits that can be realised through the State Government, council and the community working together to address local priorities.”
The improvements works were a joint effort involving the State Government, Tooradin Foreshore Committee of Management, Tooradin and Coastal Villages Commerce Committee, City of Casey and the local community.
“Without the enormous effort of these groups and individuals, this important piece of local community infrastructure would not have been upgraded,” he said.
Casey councillor Geoff Ablett said he would like to thank all those who made the works happen.
“It has a real wow factor to it now this area,” he said.
“Well done to everyone for a great team effort.”
