TRAFFIC issues at Lynbrook Primary School may be one step closer to being resolved.
Casey City Council threw its support behind developments to alleviate traffic problems around the school, following a presentation by school council president Christopher Morgan.
Parents and members from the Lynbrook Residents Association have been concerned about the parking problems around the school, arising from a steep increase in student intake without corresponding updates.
Mr Morgan explained that parents believe it is only a matter of time before a child is hit outside the school, and was frustrated when nobody took ownership of the problem.
Councillor Damien Rosario, who raised the issue at the last council meeting, said there were major traffic issues.
“The roads are narrow and they have limited options,” Cr Rosario said.
“I want to engage the State Government in discussions about options which will alleviate issues,” he said.
“What we don’t want is to see children getting hurt,” he said.
Mr Morgan said he was pleased that some discussion had taken place on this issue.
“I am happy that we have been able to attract the attention of council,” he said.
“I am cautiously optimistic,” he said.
Mr Morgan said the issue attracted a lot of debate and attention during his 45-minute presentation at a private council meeting earlier this month.
He hopes movement by council will translate to further action being taken, and Cr Rosario’s motion to organise a meeting between relevant parties will result in further developments.
