Mobile message takes to roads

By BRIDGET COOK

A BILLBOARD was launched in Casey recently calling on the State Government to invest more in roads across the municipality.
Casey’s state Labour MPs launched a mobile billboard last month calling on the Napthine Liberal Government to put more funding into roads in the area.
The billboard will travel around Casey in the coming weeks telling residents that there is a lack of funding for new roads.
Shadow Minister for Roads and Narre Warren North MP Luke Donnellan said communities across Casey continued to grow and congestion was getting worse, but the State Government failed to fund a single dollar for any new roads projects in Casey this year.
“It’s clear that more funding needs to be provided to new roads projects across Casey,” he said.
“We are calling on the government to change its tune and start providing money for our congested roads.”
Cranbourne MP Jude Perera said he was concerned by what he said was the lack of funding provided for new projects as housing development and population growth continued to boom around Cranbourne.
“It is disheartening to see that over the last three budgets, the Liberal Government has failed to invest one red cent towards the upgrading or duplication off any arterial roads in the Cranbourne electorate,” he said.
Narre Warren South MP Judith Graley said the duplication of Thompson’s Road was desperately needed with thousands of people contacting her office pleading for the government to take action.
The News contacted the State Government for a response but it did not receive one before deadline.
