A CASEY mascot will be visiting local kindergartens to help spread the safety message.
Neighbourhood Watch (NHW) Casey has launched its new children’s safety education program where the group’s mascot KC Watch Dog will visit kindergartens in the area.
KC made her first visit to Pelican Childcare in Lynbrook last month, assisted by NHW Casey secretary Jen Baird.
David Hewitt, NHW Casey, said the program has been a great success so far.
“Assisted by Jen, KC met the children and told a story about KC getting lost in the park and how a friendly police officer helped KC find her family,” he said.
“The children were encouraged to learn their names and addresses and a contact phone number. “They were shown pictures of KC with a policeman and talked about the ways to recognise a police officer in uniform.
“The morning was a great success and NHW Casey has had positive feedback from Pelican staff and parents.”
Mr Hewitt said after the success of the first visits, NHW Casey intended to apply to the council for permission to attend kindergartens throughout the municipality.
He urged any independent kindergartens interested in the program to contact Ms Baird at jenniferbaird@optusnet.com.au.
