Bonanza of football

A FAMILY fun day will be held this weekend to raise money for a Casey kids charity.
The Lynbrook Junior Football Club is hosting its Football Bonanza Day on Sunday from 8.30am, with all funds raised to go to the Southern Cross Kids Camp – Casey Camp.
The day will include a range of activities including junior football matches, a sausage sizzle, face painting and jumping castle.
Lynbrook Junior Football Club president Matt Blake said as a junior club they also wanted to be associated with a local charity.
“After speaking to City of Casey Mayor Amanda Stapledon, who suggested Southern Cross Kids Camps, we joined forces and are really excited about this upcoming event,” he said.
Casey Camp directors John Lynch and Christine Smith said they were delighted to be the recipients for funds raised on the day.
“We were thrilled when Matt contacted us and are excited to be part of the event,” Ms Smith said.
“It costs about $25,000 annually to run a camp so we were thankful to the club for their generosity.
“We have been wonderfully supported in this venture by the generosity of local Coles stores, Garry Macartney and his team at First National Lynbrook and local traders for their donations.”
The camps are aimed for children who have experienced abuse or neglect and aim to give children positive reinforcement that they are valuable.
The Football Bonanza Day will be held at Lynbrook Primary School.
