TWO little piggies definitely couldn’t find their way home when they were captured in the middle of the busy South Gippsland Highway last week.
Sharon Williamson, from Australian Animal Rescue in Devon Meadows, said she received a call on Friday from Nigel’s Animal Rescue to say two young pigs had been spotted on the loose in Lynbrook.
“They had been spotted a few times by different people who had called in,” she said.
“They were running around and hiding along the median strip of the South Gippsland Highway.
“I went down there and couldn’t find them.
“I asked around and we ended up finding them hiding in some bushes.
“We caught them and brought them here.”
Ms Williamson said it was definitely one of the more bizarre cases she has had.
“It’s really unusual circumstances,” she said.
“We have no idea how they could have got there.”
Ms Williamson said they were looking for their owners or anyone who would be willing to give them a home, but they were not to be butchered.
She also called on any businesses who could donate some old fruit and vegetables to help cover the cost of feeding the runaway pigs to contact her on 0430 883 083.
The rescue sanctuary also currently has a ferret that was found in Pearcedale last week, along Tyabb Tooradin Road.
“We have contacted all the vets and had no luck finding the owner,” she said.
“It’s is definitely a pet as it’s very friendly.”
