Broadband rollout underway

WORK has started on the rollout of the National Broadband Network (NBN) in the Cranbourne area.
NBN Co announced last week that works will now begin on the NBN in Cranbourne, and released a detailed map showing the area covered by the first construction module.
Construction contractors will start work on the network which begins with a survey of the area and the existing telecommunications infrastructure. This work is expected to take several months before fibre hauling commences.
Construction will begin in the area between Thompsons Road, Sladen Street and Narre Warren Cranbourne Road.
Once construction has begun in an area, NBN Co will generally release further maps as they add more construction modules to an area until all properties in the fibre footprint are covered.
NBN Co Victorian community account manager Lalla Mackenzie said the release of the maps each month signalled to residents and businesses that they were on the way to being able to take advantage of the benefits that the NBN offers.
“You’ll be able to enjoy great quality video calls, get the whole family on line at once, and download movies in minutes,” she said.
It takes about 12 months from the start of construction until residents and business owners can order NBN retail services from telephone or internet service providers.
The new fibre map is now available at www.nbnco.com.au/assets/maps/cranbourne-vic-rollout-map-3cbn.pdf.
