LOOKING for the purrfect family pet?
RSPCA Peninsula, in Pearcedale, has a high number of cats up for adoption and the centre is looking to give them a new home.
Shelter supervisor Alice Currey said they had a significant increase in cats compared to this time last year, with 37 currently up for adoption.
“It’s been a long kitten season, so often when there are kittens available people tend to not adopt adult cats,” she said.
“While often adults are overlooked, they still have all the qualities of a family pet that you’re after.
“We have such a large range of cats at the moment, we have something suitable for all different types of homes.”
One of the cats currently up for adoption is 18-month-old Nathaniel.
He came to the RSPCA with burns that were possibly sustained from a car exhaust or being hit by a car.
While he still has pink areas where he was burned, but has made a great recovery and the shelter is now seeking a new home for him.
