Dressed to impress

By ELLA DAMIANI

THE Westernport Child Care Centre and Kindergarten in Cranbourne hosted a dress-up day last week for all the children and their families.
The occasion was in celebration of Education Week, an initiative by the Victorian Government in support of public education in Victoria.
“The day was about pin pointing the importance of education to the children,” said Westernport Child Care Centre coordinator Shae Reid.
Education Week was held from 19 to 23 May and enabled kindergarten programs and government schools across Victoria to open their doors to the community through open days, student presentations, performances and other special events.
This year Education Week highlighted the diverse multicultural community that live in Victoria and stressed the importance of learning a language as part of the education journey.
“Multiculturalism was an important part of the day,” Ms Reid said.
The Westernport Child Care Centre and Kindergarten believed a dress-up day for their children would be a great way of celebrating education as well as multiculturalism.
“The children were very excited to be dressed up as their favourite story book characters and to see their teacher’s and educators dressed up too.”
