THE City of Casey has been acknowledged for its help in putting on a huge family fun day last year.
In December last year, the council partnered with Melbourne Stars, one of Melbourne’s two Twenty20 cricket teams, to deliver the Melbourne Stars Casey Family Fun Day at Casey Fields.
The free family event was a huge success with more than 5000 people attending to try out a range of sports and activities, enjoy the rides and get an autograph and a photo with their favourite cricketers.
In recognition of the event, the Melbourne Stars recently won the award for the Best Community Fan Engagement Activity at the Big Bash League conference.
Melbourne Stars chief executive Clint Cooper presented the council at its last meeting with a framed memento in honour of the partnership and award win.
Mr Cooper said the event set a benchmark for all others teams and their community engagement activities.
“I pass on a sincere thanks for helping to put on such an amazing event,” he said.
“Walking around that day was quite incredible to see so many people there enjoying the event.”
