Man dies in police custody

A MAN died while being transported by police to the Casey Hospital last week.
The man died on Wednesday afternoon while being transported, pursuant to Community Treatment Order and following a request of Ambulance Victoria (AV) and a Crisis Assessment Team (CAT).
Police said the death was being investigated by the Homicide Squad on the direction of the Coroner and circumstances surrounding the death would be the subject of an open and transparent Coronial Inquest.
The investigation is being oversighted by the Professional Standards Command and the Independent Broad Based Anti-Corruption Commission.
A spokesperson from Victoria Police would not say where the man was from, where he was being transport from and any other details as the death was under investigation and would be subject to an inquest.
