TOORADIN may seem like a quiet coastal town but a recent sale has proven to one real estate agent that the town is a still a popular choice for buyers and investors.
Les Donaldson of Donaldson Real Estate in Narre Warren said there were 82 bids for the property.
It sold on Thursday last week for $300,000, which was 85,000 more than the asking price.
His son Brett conducted the auction of the property, which was being sold under construction from an executor.
Local residents who attended an auction of the property last week were thrilled with the result, as was the executor and the purchaser – who wanted to remain anonymous.
Mr Donaldson said the locals believed the sale set a precedent for other properties in the quiet coastal town.
“Tooradin is one area which has remained a beautiful coastal village. It’s the same as 10 to 15 years ago, which is rare to see,” Mr Donaldson said.
“The way I see it, Tooradin is still a very popular spot with eateries and wonderful access to the bay.”
Mr Donaldson said he wasn’t surprised by the great result, because there were 30 inquiries about the property during its the marketing campaign.
He said there had been a drought in sales, but the recent auction proved that the market wasn’t dead. “It was certainly an indication that the market may be improving,” he said.
