5000 reasons to smile

THERE were 5000 reasons the City of Casey would have been thrilled with the Australian Football League (AFL) pre-season match at Casey Fields on Saturday afternoon.
Even with sweltering conditions making shade, cold drinks and icy-poles highly prized, it didn’t stop a capacity crowd packing out the Cranbourne West venue to see the Melbourne Demons square off against the St Kilda Saints.
While the Saints picked up the win in the end, the Demons will see the day as a great success as an experiment for further NAB Cup or potentially AFL home-and-away matches.
News photographers Donna Oates and Jarrod Potter were at the match to capture the colour and fanaticism of the day.
