THE Hampton Park community held an afternoon tea last week to celebrate the “new look” Robert Booth Reserve.
The Hampton Park Progress Association (HPPA) hosted the afternoon tea on Friday as an opportunity to check out all the work and renovations that have taken place at the reserve over the past few years.
Robert Booth Reserve is owned by the HPPA.
Thanks to a partnership with the City of Casey, the group has undertaken a range of works at the reserve over the past three years.
Some of the work includes a new score board, storage unit, toilets, kitchen equipment, barbecues, painting in the Dick Aisbett Pavilion and clean-up of the playground.
There has also been new fencing erected around the oval, cricket news installed and works at the netball pavilion.
The reserve is home to Hampton Park’s tennis club, cricket club, senior football club, junior football club, netball club and fire brigade training
Vanassa Gerdes, from the HPPA, worked with the council and the clubs to achieve several outcomes.
“There is still more work to be done – the tennis club needs new retaining walls and the club rooms need a facelift,” she said.
“Robert Booth Reserve upgrades will make a difference to the clubs, and there is no reason now, why we could not hold finals.”
