Casey Young Citizen of the Year – Sarah Dunstan

AT such a young age, Sarah Dunstan is already a dedicated leader and role model in her community.
The Casey Grammar School student has become well respected amongst her peers for her energetic and enthusiastic approach to everything she does.
As well as studying full time, Sarah, 15, volunteers her time to benefit her community including participating in World Vision’s 40 Hour Famine, Winter Sleepout and is an assistant coach to the Casey Districts Netball Club under-13s team.
But it doesn’t stop there. Sarah also spends her time helping some of Casey’s disadvantaged residents as a volunteer with the St Vincent de Paul Soup Van covering areas of Berwick, Narre Warren, Narre Warren South and Cranbourne.
Sarah said she was thrilled to receive the honour.
“It’s absolutely amazing,” she said.
“I’ve heard of this award before and thought I’d never know anyone that would receive, let alone for me to get it.
“I didn’t expect it at all.”
Sarah said she originally started volunteering with the soup van as part of the Guides about four years ago and never gave it up.
“I loved it so much it kept going with it,” she said.
“You get to meet some great people and give back to the community.”
