A NEW club to the area, the Akoonah Park Men’s Shed has now completed its first ‘out-of-shed’ project, much to the delight of President John Byron.
The foundation member said after experiencing difficulty in the initial days of the clubs existence, the Akoonah Park Men’s Shed could now see light at the end of the tunnel.
“A light is now shining in front of us, and we can see where we are going,” Mr Byron said.
The first project for the club was recently completed when three members constructed a chook shed for a Casey Manor, located in Narre Warren South.
Mr Byron said the group was in need of one, after wanting to have chooks at the manor.
“The ladies wanted a few chooks, but they had to have a shed to keep them in,” the president said.
Three members from the Akoonah Park Men’s Shed worked hard on the project, completing it in less than a week for a very grateful group at the Narre Warren South-based manor.
The club is now well on its way, with plans for future projects.
Mr Byron is happy to announce 35 members are now part of the club, and it is continuing to prosper.
“We are growing every week,” he said.
