Welsh grabs Scorpions by tail

CASEY Scorpions go into the new year with a new coach, following the announcement that Rohan Welsh had been offered the VFL coaching role for 2013.
Welsh, 42, will take the reins from Brett Lovett, taking on the Scorpions job part-time.
A former Carlton player, accruing 42 AFL games, Welsh was selected by the Blues following a two-year stint on Essendon’s main list and went on to win the Jim “Frosty” Miller Medal in the VFA (now VFL) playing for Dandenong in 1991.
After retiring from football, seeing out his last few playing years at Frankston, Welsh became an assistant at the TAC Cup club Calder Cannons, before taking the head coach job with the Oakleigh Chargers and leading them to a TAC Cup premiership in 2006.
Since 2008, Welsh has also coached Vic Metro at the under-18 national championships.
