STUDENTS and teachers at Lyndhurst Primary School are helping spread some Christmas cheer to those in need this festive season.
In just two weeks, the school community collected more than ten boxes of non-perishable items to donate to Windermere’s Merry Mission Christmas Appeal.
The items will be used to make up hampers to distribute to families in the local community, making a difference to those in need this Christmas.
Lyndhurst Primary School principal Greg Lacey said the response from the 380 students and their families – driven by the Parents and Friends Association – was absolutely amazing.
“We are enormously proud of our students and families, for such a new school they have done a wonderful job,” he said.
“It is about engendering the right values in these kids, teaching them the value of giving as well as receiving.”
Windermere’s community participation coordinator Meleea Wood said the support of the students, staff and families from Lyndhurst Primary School, had been absolutely overwhelming.
“It is wonderful to see our local community coming together to assist those most in need,” she said.
“These items will go a long way to ensuring many clients of Windermere have the opportunity to share in the festive season.”
