And Ziggy can dance

AT just 12 years of age, Upper Beaconsfield resident Ziggy Debrincat is already on his way to fame.
The young performer was recently informed he was one of 11 students accepted into the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School after auditioning in August this year.
The prestigious school in Southbank offers a specialised program to train young dancers and musicians, and the auditions take into account both the current and potential talent of the applicant.
Currently a student of Contemporary Independent Dance in Cranbourne East, Ziggy has danced there since the age of nine, specialising in a range of different dance types, including solos.
He was one of the first students to belong to the school, starting when the studio first opened its doors.
After 60 youths auditioned Ziggy said the judges then started the elimination process and he was later thrilled to hear he made the cut.
“Everyone performed and then they narrowed it down,” he said.
“I was pretty happy.”
Also excited was the artistic director of Ziggy’s current dance school Nicole Jacobsson, who said she could see his talent from the start.
“I am extremely proud of the time I have spent working with this talented and charming young man,” the mentor said.
“I look forward to seeing him grow into the dancer I have always known is inside of him.”
Ziggy, who has been studying classical, contemporary and troupe work will start his career at the school at the beginning of next year.
