THE local community has the opportunity to help shape the design of the Lynbrook Integrated Community Centre.
The City of Casey is urging local community groups, residents and community service organisations to get involved in the centre’s development.
The centre, to be constructed at the corner of Harris Street and Lynbrook Boulevard, will be a multipurpose community space including several meeting and training rooms, a community kitchen, storage and toilets.
The centre will have the potential to provide a range of community services from playgroups to education and training and social, artistic and cultural services.
The council is contributing $3.735 million towards the facility and the State Government is contributing $765,000.
What is specifically designed and the potential services on offer are up to the community.
City of Casey chief executive Mike Tyler encouraged people to get involved.
“The centre will provide valuable new space within this growing community and will complement the existing facilities, services and shopping precinct to make Lynbrook an even better place to live,” he said.
“In order to deliver what the area needs, council is calling on the community to tell us what they think should be part of the new multi-purpose community centre.”
Complete the online survey at www.casey.vic.gov.au/currentconsultations or a written survey available from the council’s Customer Service Centres or by calling 9705 5200, by 30 November.
People can also attend a community workshop at the Family and Children’s Centre, 25 River Redgum Place, Lynbrook, on Tuesday 27 November from 9.30am to 11.30am, Wednesday 28 November from 1pm to 3pm, or Wednesday 28 November from 7pm to 9pm.
Bookings are essential. Call City of Casey Customer Service on 9705 5200.
