POLICE officers from across Casey were rewarded for their service to the community on Monday.
Police from Narre Warren, Cranbourne and Endeavour Hills met with police from Cardinia Shire and Greater Dandenong for the Southern Metropolitan Region Division 3 medal presentation ceremony at the Civic Centre in Narre Warren.
Casey Inspector Wayne Viney said it was important to recognise the efforts by local police.
“Policing is like any other emergency service job – it’s not easy, so it’s nice they are acknowledged for their years of service and commitment and recognised in front of family and friends, who support them,” he said.
“It’s a dangerous job and you never know what you will get from one day to the next – but we are committed to safety in all areas.”
Senior Constable Christopher Tetof from Cranbourne’s uniform division received a Divisional Commendation for diligent investigation of a serious hit-run collision involving a cyclist at Berwick in May 2010, which led to the successful prosecution of the offending driver for various criminal charges in May this year.
Sergeant Rodney Threlfall and Leading Senior Constable Mark Townsend from Narre Warren Uniform received the National Police Service Medal which is awarded to both sworn and unsworn employees who’ve completed 10 years’ diligent and ethical service to Victoria Police. A clasp to the medal is given for each five years’ additional service.
Sergeant Graeme Stanley from Narre Warren Uniform received a Victoria Police Service Medal 15-year clasp.
Leading Senior Constable Desmond Vis from Narre Warren Uniform received a Victoria Police Service Medal 20-year clasp.
Constable Melissa Mitchell from Endeavour Hills Uniform received a Victoria Police Service Medal, Sergeant Sheree Moore from Casey Crime Scene Services in Narre Warren received a Victoria Police Service Medal 25-year clasp and the National Medal first clasp, and Senior Constable Leigh Moss and Sergeant Kim Staples from Cranbourne Uniform each received a Victoria Police Service Medal.
