YOU know that age when you’ve finished school, but you’re not quite an adult yet?
That is the phase that three Cranbourne men will be exploring in their new television series to premiere on digital Channel 31 on Friday night.
Landing the time slot for their show Pre-Adult Post-Teen was a dream come true for Andrew Saliba, Paul Morello and Lewy Alphonso, who have always wanted to be on television.
The former St Peter’s College Cranbourne students used to film “skits and junk” and upload them onto YouTube throughout their high school years, and in doing so honed on their acting and filming skills.
Mr Saliba, who wrote and directed the series, said Pre-Adult Post-Teen had a great story line and characters people could relate to.
“So while it contains a lot of humorous ideas, the best part of it is that it contains facets and common subjects that are bought up within a lot of groups of people the same age,” he said.
“It is about that period of time where you’ve finished school, but you don’t work full time yet.
“It follows Paul, Andrew and East (played by Lewy) as they try and get girls, go out, avoid university, get drunk and talk about their money-making pipe dreams.
“Fundamentally, the show is about guys wanting to pick up girls, and their insecurities. That and mateship when you’re 18 to 19 years old.
“The show has a lot of indie graphics and cool stuff in between scenes that adds to the feel of the show,” Mr Saliba said.
“Some of the lines are improvised and, as most of us are mates in real life, it comes across as natural and realistic.”
Mr Saliba said the trio was thrilled to win the timeslot, as he had always loved script writing and Mr Morello and Mr Alphonso had always enjoyed acting.
“It’s a good medium to get our work out there because a lot of people have access to it especially now that it has gone digital,” he said.
“We always talk about our goals and they are always massive.
“We’re really going after this, so we wouldn’t be adverse to it (fame), but at the same time we’re not actively seeking fame.
“We’re mainly about getting some good content out there and being creative.”
Mr Saliba encouraged the local community to show their support and tune-in on Friday night.
“If you like going out, clubbing and mucking around with your mates, or like intelligent comedy with characters you can relate to, get around us and watch this show,” he said.
