GETTING to do her debutante ball with her fellow classmates on Friday was a dream come true for Cranbourne teenager Rachael Hunt.
Last week the News reported on a Berwick business Miss Gowns coming to the rescue to ensure the Hallam Senior College student got to take part in her school’s debutante ball.
Rachael’s mother is suffering from pancreatic cancer, and is currently going through chemotherapy and radiation treatment. Due to extensive medial expenses, her family was unable to afford for Rachael to do her deb.
With Rachael to be the only student to miss out on the ball, her teacher Katie Curran began approaching local businesses to see if they could help.
Miss Gowns helped make Rachael’s dream come true, donating a debutante dress, alterations, shoes, accessories and hair and makeup to Rachael for her special night.
Friday was the big night for Rachael and she got presented with her family and the staff from Miss Gowns in attendance.
Rachael said her night was incredible.
“Getting all dressed up and everything put on me made me feel so special for the night,” she said.
“It was an unbelievable night.
“Everyone looked so beautiful and when I came out my mother cried of happiness.
“She was that proud of me, it brought a massive smile to my face to know my mum was happy.
“To be with all my friends and to make my family proud of me, I couldn’t of had a better night!”
