CENTRO Cranbourne honoured two outstanding Salvation Army volunteers, Gordon and Ann Chippett.
The couple who have been members of the Salvation Army for over 20 years were recognised through a plaque that was placed on display in the food court at Centro Cranbourne.
The plaque was erected to celebrate the commitment of the couple to the community over the years, including liaison between Cranbourne Centro and the Salvation Army.
Marketing manager Michelle Symss said they have made an enormous difference to the community.
“This plaque pays tribute to Gordon and Ann, who have done extraordinary things to light up the lives of others, and make a difference here in the City of Casey,” Michelle said.
“Gordon and Ann have worked tirelessly behind the scenes on a daily basis for the good of their fellow citizens and we greatly appreciate their effort.”
Mr Chippett said the plaque came as a huge shock.
“It was lovely and a total surprise,” he said.
“We didn’t even guess, it’s the only plaque in the place.”
After collecting for 23 years now, the volunteer said he and his wife were strangers to few.
“Everyone knows us, we’ve been there so long,” he said.
The long-standing volunteers were extremely humbled by the honour.
‘We really didn’t expect it,” Mr Chippett said.
