THEY’RE not in Kansas anymore – the Wizard of Oz has made its way to Cranbourne.
The family classic musical has twisted its way to the Cranbourne Community Theatre this school holiday’s, with shows still running today, tomorrow and Saturday.
The musical is being presented by People’s Playhouse, incorporating Kids 4 Kids Theatre Company, performed by a youth cast ranging in age from five to 18.
Sandra Martin, from People’s Playhouse, said the play presented the perfect opportunity to travel over the rainbow and experience this national treasure on stage.
“The entire family will be captivated as they travel down the Yellow Brick Road and beyond with Dorothy, Toto and their friends the Cowardly Lion, Tin Man and Scarecrow in this exciting production, featuring breathtaking special effects, dazzling choreography and classic songs,” she said.
“A spectacular celebration of the iconic 1939 MGM film The Wizard of Oz, will blow you away from the moment the tornado touches down and transports you to a dazzling Oz, complete with munchkins and flying monkeys.”
The show will run until Saturday 14 July, with shows today and tomorrow (Thursday and Friday) at 2pm and 7.30pm and a show on Saturday at 2pm.
Tickets cost $22 for adults, $20 for concession and seniors, $18 for children aged between three and 16.
The Cranbourne Community Theatre is located on Brunt Street.
