All power to them

THE City of Casey has powered up another 100 per cent electric vehicle to add to its fleet.
The council added the second vehicle as part of the State Government’s Victorian electric vehicle trial.
City of Casey environment manager Nicola Ward said in addition to the benefit of not relying upon non-renewable energy, many of the components in the car were made from recycled materials.
“The seats are upholstered with recycled PET plastic, the bumper casings are made from old urethane bumpers and the carpets and interior insulation are constructed from other recovered materials,” she said.
“The power used to charge the vehicle is also 100 per cent offset with GreenPower to avoid using electricity generated from brown coal.”
The council will provide data and information on the vehicle’s every day application to help inform the State Government, the council and the community on the future of electric powered vehicles.
