Big boost for school

MARNEBEK School has welcomed the completion of a number of new facilities opened at the school last month.
Holt MP Anthony Byrne officially opened the Cranbourne school’s $2,046,450 new library, classrooms and refurbished staff work area, built as part of the Australian Government’s Building the Education Revolution (BER).
The students performed a rendition of the National Anthem at the opening.
Mr Byrne congratulated all involved in the project, including principal Karen Dauncey for her hard work in ensuring the project’s success for this growing special school, which now caters for more than 300 students aged five to 18-years-old.
“It has been fantastic to see the principals, parents and trades people working together to deliver these important projects,” he said.
“Now that this project is complete, teachers and students at Marnebek School will be teaching and learning in the 21st century facilities that they deserve.
“I am delighted to open these new facilities at a very special school for special kids.”
Mr Byrne said the opening was his last opening for the year in his electorate.
“It has been great to see many schools in the local community benefit from this educational investment which has built libraries, science labs, classrooms and multipurpose halls,” he said.
“These facilities are an investment in our future and will deliver better educational outcomes in the region.”
