Sweet sounds for Christmas

By Bridget Cook
THE Carols in the Park were on tune again this year.
Organised by the Casey Life Church, more than 2000 people turned out to the annual Hampton Park carols event on Friday night.
City of Casey Deputy Mayor Wayne Smith co-hosted the night along with Charmaine Sime and Graham Shand, from Casey Life.
An array of young, local performers sang carols to the crowd and Luke Holt, from the Light FM breakfast show, added a touch of humorous entertainment.
The Hampton Park Lions Club cooked up a sausage sizzle on the night, with various local businesses and groups contributing to the event.
Mr Shand said the event was another outstanding success.
“Around 100 volunteers gave of their time – some taking the day off work to make the carols such a special event in the life of the community,” he said.
Casey Life Church will be running a Christmas service on Sunday at 10am at the Arthur Wren Hall in Stuart Avenue, Hampton Park.
