CHILDREN can learn about road and fire safety in the City of Casey these school holidays.
The council’s state-of-the-art, purpose-built Casey Safety Village, at Cranbourne East, is offering a road and fire safety education program over the summer break.
The Casey Safety Village offers programs aimed at increasing bicycle, road and fire safety awareness for children up to 12-year-old.
Visitors can walk or ride around the mini version of Victorian roads and streets while experiencing a variety of different road and traffic conditions. Other activities on offer including a range of bicycle activities, Caseyville – the community safety game, fire safety sessions, indoor activities and an on-site barbecue which is available to be booked.
Casey mayor Sam Aziz said the Casey Safety Village provided the perfect location for a fun and educational day out during the school holidays.
“Parents can enjoy a great, low-cost activity in the local area, while their children gain important road and fire safety skills in a supportive environment,” he said.
The daytime sessions, which run from 10am to 2pm, over the school holidays will be held on Tuesday 10, Wednesday 11, Thursday 12, Tuesday 24 and Wednesday 25 January.
The twilight sessions, which run from 4 to 8pm, are on Tuesday 17, Wednesday 18 and Thursday 19 January.
Children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult at all times.
Visitors are encouraged to bring their own bicycle and helmet as only a limited number are available. Bookings are essential and the cost is $5 per child.
