A 19-YEAR-OLD Lynbrook woman has been berated by Cardinia police after blowing a blood alcohol of 0.147 in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Sergeant Nigel Atkins noticed a small white car driving west down the Princes Highway in Pakenham wandering over lanes and in a poor condition.
He pulled over the 19-year-old driver to find that she had no idea that she had hit something earlier, and was not conscious of the dragging noise of the plastic wheel arch dragging along the ground.
“She blew 0.147 and was absolutely gutted, off her face,” Sgt Atkins said.
“No sleep, a belly full of grog, medication and texting – a recipe of the utmost high for a road death or serious injury to herself or another.”
Sgt Atkins said the driver, from Lynbrook who has only had her probationary licence for two months, was lucky police had intercepted her as she would not have made it home.
“This is irresponsibility at the utmost high,” he said.
“Again I will reiterate, it is the community responsibility that will make the roads safe. They must all adhere to the road rules and regulations or we will continue to have further deaths in Cardinia.”
He said the girl’s friends should have not allowed her to leave the party she attended in Army Road in the condition she was in.
“We all, are responsible for each others safety when using the roads.”
