ALKIRA Secondary College hosted visiting principals from China last week to discuss sister school partnership possibilities.
Schools in the Southern Metropolitan Region including Alkira hosted 23 principals from Jiangsu province in China on Wednesday 30 November.
Principal Ian McKenzie said the school was extended an invitation to meet principal colleagues from Jiangsu province and engage in shared professional dialogue about their respective education systems.
He said Alkira already had a successful sister school in Nanjing.
“Our school, as a Confucius classroom, was invited to be the lead school in such a project, promoting the sister arrangement to other schools,” he said.
“This project is based around high quality professional learning between the leadership teams from both countries.”
Mr McKenzie said the visit made for number of opportunities.
“It was also an opportunity for the Chinese delegation to view state-of-the-art buildings that Alkira has won an award for,” he said.
“The visiting principals visited classrooms, sharing their calligraphy skills with the students.
“Students were pleased to hear the delegation congratulated them on their oral skills.”
RMIT was overseeing the development of sister arrangements with Jiangsu Education Department, a new program being promoted by the Nanjing and Jiangsu education departments.
